About us

CARED is a not-for-profit organization established by regulatory and pharmaceutical experts.

The acronym CARED, stands for Consortium for African Regulatory Expertise Development. CARED was established in September 2013 in response to the call by NEPAD for the formation of a regulatory experts pool for Africa.

Our Mission

Since our formation, we have worked, and continue to work, on issues pertinent to regulatory systems strengthening in Low and Middle-Income Countries and drive for Africa to have timely and affordable access to efficacious high-quality medicines.

Area of Expertise

With a combined total of over 40 years of pharmaceutical science experience, CARED is a unique, innovative and agile platform for shaping medicines regulatory systems.

We draw on our global experience from regulatory and pharmaceutical sectors, medicines agencies, academia and public health institutions to influence and inform technical, policy and practice debates and decision-making
processes relating to regulation and access of medicines.

It is the objective of CARED to support African Drug Regulatory Authorities in creating the requisite
regulatory infrastructure for access to quality-assured medicines in Africa in accordance with NEPADs AMRH programme. CARED activities are multidimensional:
